Writer's Block: B.Y.O.B. Holidays

What is your must-see holiday movie? One random answer will win a $50 Amazon gift card. [Details here]
Olive the Other Reindeer was always my favorite since it first aired when I was little, but every year I usually watch Charlie Brown and Rudolph also. I liked watching Anabel's wish (even though its a bit sad now that I think about it...)but that is no longer aired anywhere and I do not have it on VHS or DVD so I can't watch that one anymore unfortunately.

Please read if you are doing a Xmas card exchange with me!

I have these users all ready to mail:
pheonixxfoxx
ktmonkeyj
tamago226
mizuhokusanagi
glacidea

Please notify me if I missed you so that I can make something up for you!  I should note that each of you will be getting a bubble mailer and a card separately, because the card did not fit in the bubble mailer, like I had originally thought. I wanted to do a drawing for everyone but I didn't have time unfortunately, but I tried to personalize each one somewhat, hope everyone likes what I gave them.

If anyone else wants to do an exchange, I am still up to it but I may not be able to do a drawing for you or give you much more than just the card,so be aware.

I've seen this quite a few times on various LJ friend's journals, and I thought it looked like a nice idea, so I am doing it too. My journal doesn't get much activity from others really, so while nothing may become of it,its worth a chance.  If I could get one thing from one person, even if its just a card, I would be happy. c:

STEP ONE
★ Make a post (public, friends-locked, filtered... whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of ten holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV"). The important thing is to make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
★ If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) can get in touch with you. Your home address is not required!
★ Make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post (it'll be public) so that the holiday joy will spread.

STEP TWO
★ Surf around your friends list (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now, here's the important part...
★ If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes one person's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use - or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free - do it.
★ You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf - to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not - it's your call. There are no guarantees with this project, and no strings attached. Just... wish, and it might come true. Give and you might receive. You'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.
Collapse )While not listed,it would be always nice to have people to comment more on entries and put-in their imput. New friends are nice too. For those that are on my list, thank you for being around.

Christmas is coming way too early this year, it would seem.

I enjoy Christmas and the holiday season in general, but I noticed it has been brought upon us earlier and earlier each year by stores and TV and such. Thanksgiving and after is okay with me, but now it is practically in-full swing now and its not even Thanksgiving!

Last weekend I saw the Grinch cartoon airing on TBS one night, I thought that was ridiculous but that it could not get any worse-I was wrong. Tonight when I was coming home from going to Target with my mom, I saw a Christmas tree (lit up too!) in someone's living room neighborhood. What the actual fuck?

This is getting insane now. D: I like Christmas and all as much as the next person (both for the decorations/TV specials/etc. stuff and for the religious side), but this is too much. I guess some people just ignore this if they don't like it but I find that hard to do. Is anyone else experiencing this were they are?o_o
